This Privacy Policy explains how Cytek Solar Limited (“Cytek Solar”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use cyteksolar.com, create an account, request a quote, place an order, subscribe to our newsletter, or chat with us.
We process personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Where the EU/UK GDPR also applies (for example if you are in the EEA or UK), we describe the corresponding legal bases below. This page is a public notice, not legal advice. Use of the site is also governed by our Terms of Service.
1.Who we are
Cytek Solar Limited is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. We are a renewable energy company based in Nairobi, Kenya (founded 2018), licensed by EPRA and NCA.
- Address: The Mirage, Tower 2, M1 — Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya
- Email: info@cyteksolar.com
- Phone: +254 794 666 111
2.What we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- Account details — full name, email, phone number, and authentication data when you register or sign in.
- Orders and addresses — billing and delivery details, county, phone, order items, amounts, and payment status.
- Quotes and contact forms — project details, location, and the contact information you submit.
- Newsletter — your email address if you subscribe (and records of unsubscribes).
- Live chat — messages you send, pages viewed during the conversation, approximate location/IP, device information, and (if you are signed in) your name, email, and phone so our agents can see who they are speaking with.
- Technical data — browser type, IP address, and cookies needed to keep you signed in or to operate live chat.
We do not ask children to create accounts. The site is intended for people who can enter a contract under Kenyan law (generally 18+).
3.Why we use your data
We use personal data to:
- Create and secure your account, and show your orders and profile.
- Process shop purchases and confirm payment via Paystack.
- Prepare quotes, schedule surveys, and carry out installations.
- Answer questions through email, phone, and live chat.
- Send the newsletter if you asked to receive it.
- Improve site reliability, prevent fraud, and meet legal duties.
Legal bases (Kenya DPA / GDPR-style). We rely on: performance of a contract (accounts, orders, installation); legitimate interests (answering visitor chat, securing the site, basic analytics of our own systems); consent (newsletter signup, and any optional marketing); and legal obligation (tax, accounting, and regulatory records).
4.Cookies
We set cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in (Supabase session cookies) and to remember some site preferences. Tawk.to sets its own cookies to operate the chat widget and recognise returning visitors. The chat widget loads for visitors on public pages. You can block cookies in your browser; some features (including staying logged in or continuing a chat) may then not work.
5.International transfers
Some processors (including Tawk.to on Google Cloud, and our database and email providers) may store or access data outside Kenya. We use reputable providers and limit the data we send. If GDPR applies to you, those transfers rely on the provider’s appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) as described in their policies.
6.How long we keep data
Account and order records are kept for as long as you have an account and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle warranties, disputes, and tax law. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Chat transcripts are stored by Tawk.to according to their retention settings; we can ask them to delete a conversation if you request it and we no longer need it.
7.Your rights
Subject to the Kenya Data Protection Act (and GDPR where it applies), you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccuracies, deletion, restriction, or objection to certain processing, and (where processing is based on consent) withdrawal of that consent. Newsletter unsubscribe links are included in those emails.
Email info@cyteksolar.com with the subject “Data request”. We may need to verify your identity. You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (Kenya). EEA/UK residents may contact their local supervisory authority.
8.Changes
We may update this policy when our products, processors, or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of the site after an update means you should review the new text.
